Why?
Why I want to follow my internship abroad.
(This text is a loose translation of my motivation letter. The aim was to provide arguments why I’d want to go abroad instead of staying regional. Read why I’ve chosen for CARET below.)
When I, two years back, first heard of the possibility to follow an international training period, I immediately knew I’d want to do that. To date my initial enthousiasm hasn’t faded. On the contrary, I’m more excited about this great opportunity than ever before!
I have many reasons to follow my internship somewhere outside Flanders.
First of all this expierence will broaden my horizon. Not only will I meet people from around the world, I will also get to learn about brand new technologies. Furthermore I will discover new cities and enlargen my cultural knowledge. Within three months I will learn things not a single school would ever be able to teach me.
A training period within one’s country can get boring and dull after a while. Thankfully, with living and working abroad that’s never the case. The internship doesn’t stop at 16 o’clock, but continues all day long. It are three unique months in which new experiences are never far away. For a quarter of a year I will live a completely different life, and this temporal change of my daily environment is something I welcome with open arms.
Another reason to go international is to improve my English skills, and to prepare myself for the real, independent life.
A final reason to go abroad is to increase the value of my CV. The extra certificate coming with this internship will, especially in these economical uncertain times, undoubtly give me an edge on the employment market. It will proove to my future employer that I can work independently, be flexible and get work done.
I have heard a lot of positive international experiences, and am completely ready to have such an experience myself.
